The Alexandria community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of 27-year-old Marquette Holmes, who was fatally shot this evening on the 900 block of N. Patrick Street. According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:36 p.m. to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Marquette Holmes suffering from a gunshot wound inside an apartment building. A juvenile male was also found injured and was transported alongside Marquette to a local hospital. Despite the immediate efforts of medical personnel, Marquette succumbed to his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.
